CVW

While reading the article “The Corporate Virtual Workspace” written by Steve Pruitt and Tom Barrett, I often agreed with the authors ideas and do believe the business world can become like this quicker than sooner. As technology advances it does make a lot of things easier and efficient. People can multi task and be at multiple places at once like the authors described Austin’s work style. At the same time, there will also be consequences, like discussed earlier this semester with technological advancement; with the positives, there also comes negatives. There will be less face to face interaction which has always been a staple in the businesses world. Business is often about relationships and trust and with just a computer screen and a face that can be lost. Here’s just a reminder and evidence of the importance of face to face meetings still mean today. It’s just something that virtual meanings can’t contend with at the same level. I have no doubts the software will be available and in use for cyber space and productive virtual business as the authors state. One thing I know now that is popular in corporations is virtual training programs. This is a concept that helps let employees get hands-on experience and better of idea of the tasks at hand. I believe it is a great way to learn where it’s easy to visualize and also be hands on. Either way it’s all very interesting to think about. I believe we will continue to adapt towards the virtual process as the advantages can be great. It’s funny to picture myself in virtual working atmosphere a few years down the road.
