Too Connected?

In the interview and article with Turkle she explains how technology has been increasingly integrated in our lives to the point where we have become overloaded with the need and want to constantly use it in our everyday lives. This has been an even bigger issue with the younger generations because they grew up with the technologies that we use now and have never experienced life without them. Technology is only becoming more accessible and easier to use simultaneously. We can only wonder what effects this may have on our future.
Teens have a fascination with trying to constantly communicate through social media, text, video, and virtually every other form of communication we currently use. They may be experiencing increased communication through technology but what about face to face interaction? The increased time on their phones, computers, and other technologies have been limiting or negatively influencing their time with friends and family. It seems that the lack of interaction could have serious consequences on these individuals and families. The addiction to technology may have similar results that other additions may have on relationships. Turkle believes that we will regain control over technology and communication and thinks the change will begin with families. Unfortunately, I am not sure if she is right with her prediction. I believe that the generation that has never experienced life without these technologies will continue to push communication over these mediums. New technologies will soon emerge and they will find ways to become even more connected with technology then what they are now.
